The Philippine Constructors Association, Inc. (PCA) donated one (1) unit of chainsaw and 150 pieces of shovels to the people of Tanauan, Leyte and Guiuan, Eastern Samar who were adversely affected by Typhoon Yolanda.
People in the said areas are now utilizing the donated materials to cut fallen coconut trunks into lumber, which they use in reconstructing their houses.
On December 8, 2013, then PCA Past President Augusto Manalo signed the Deed of Donation with Mayor Pel Tecson of the Municipality of Tanauan, Leyte and Vice Mayor Rogelio O. Cablao of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, who signed the DOD on behalf of Mayor Sheen Gonzalez.
Typhoon Yolanda badly hit both municipalities along with other regions in the Visayas on November 8, 2013, resulting to huge losses in properties and livelihood.
Since the massive devastation of the strongest tropical cyclone to have ever hit the country, the PCA has actively engaged in calamity response efforts to facilitate the recovery of the calamity-stricken areas and their people.
