Following the success of the first Construction Standard Trade Skills Training (CSTST) Technical Working Group Meeting held last June 27, 2011 at the Le MeridienHotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand,the 2nd CSTST Technical Working Group Meeting will be held tomorrow, September 8, at the Vietnam Construction & Import-Export Joint Stick Corporation (VINACONEX Corp.) in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The PCA delegation composed of current ACF Secretary General and PCA 1st Vice President Ronaldo Elepaño, PCA President Levy Espiritu, PCA Director Lito Garcia and PCA Executive Director Manolito Madrasto will be flying to Vietnam today for the said meeting. To accompany them will be Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) Chairman Rodolfo Menguita, Florante Inoturan ofthe Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Central Office and three other representatives from the Research, Education and Institutional Development (REID) Foundation.
To be presented in the 2nd CSTST Meeting are the results and recommendations ofthe comparability study on Steel Reinforcement Work and Metal Formwork conducted by the incumbent ACF Secretariat, the PCA.
Workshops on Timber Formwork and Brick Laying will be held on September 8, following an open discussion on the harmonization of international skills standards.
The second day will cover Concrete Block Laying, Plastering, Tile-Setting and Welding.
The convention ends on September 10 with a workshop on Structural Steel Work and a discussion of the lifting/earthmoving equipment that will be included in ACF'spriority list.
