Past PCA President and new ASEAN Constructors Federation (ACF) Chairman Jorge Consunji made a successful visitation to five ACF member countries last March 6-12, 2011.
With him were ACF Council Member & PCA President Levi Espiritu, ACF Secretary General & PCA 2nd Vice President Ronaldo R. Elepaño, Jr., ACF Past Secretary General & PCA Executive Director Manolito P. Madrasto, and REID Foundation Deputy Team Leader Raffy Hernandez.
The visitation intended to acquaint the newly-appointed ACF Chairman Consunji with the nuts and bolts of the federation as well as to formally introduce the new leadership to his constituencies. Likewise, Consunji presented his proposed plans of action for years 2011- 2012.
The chairman expressed his interest to organize a technical working group that will continue to work on the harmonization of manpower skills. This team will be headed by Mr. Elepaño with representatives from both private and government sectors of all ACF-member countries.
In line with this, all ACF member countries are expected to submit copies of their skills and training standards, specifically steel reinforcement and metal formworks.
CHINCA has invited all ACF member countries to attend an infrastructure forum on May 28-29 to witness the signing of an MOC between the two associations which shall lay out the ground rules in operating in each country.
In the interim, PCA is holding discussions with the Thai Contractors Association (TCA) and the Singapore Contractors Association Ltd. (SCAL) to arrive at a mutually beneficial MOC for all.
